A Ray of Hope For Improvement Of Health Conditions

A cellphone technology is making its way to India which can help to improve the health conditions in rural areas of the country. This technology can detect many chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes type I and type II and hypertension.
As we all know, the condition of health facilities being provided in rural areas of our country is pathetic.Almost no one cares about proper development of health facilities in such areas and numerous people die every year because of lack of knowledge of health problems. If this technology successfully came in our country then it would just not alleviate the health problems of the people in rural areas but would also improve the country's image on health perspective. I hope this technology proves its worth .

Ayurvedic Pharmacy Becoming A Threat For Medicinal Plants

With the changing times, people are becoming conscious about their health. They are now prefering to use ayurvedic medicine rather than antibiotic and homoepathic medicines.Ayurveda is a science which is in practice since ancient times.People have realized the importance of Ayurveda and it is again  becoming popular in India as well in foreign countries.

This change is very beneficial for promoting healthy living but practicing ayurveda on the stake of medicinal plants is not acceptable. We are using the plants so rationally that they are on the verge of extinction , they are used and harvested in an inadequate proportion. there was a recent article which states that wild medicinal plants are on the verge of extinction because of inadequate usage of plants for the purpose of making medicines.  http://www.developmentchannel.org/health/medicinal-plants/1065-93-pc-of-wild-medicinal-plants-on-the-verge-of-extinction

Is it appropriate to deteriorate one resource (plants) for the sake of becoming healthy? Is it justified for us to use plants so rationally? I would firmly say 'NO',these plants must be utilized and harvested in a sustainable proportion . We should not just harvest them and employ them for making ayurvedic medicines but should also take care of these plants and find ways to end their extinction.

Smoking: An Addiction Leading To Death

" Smoking Cigarette Is Injurious To Health ", this is a fact which most of the people know and despite knowing they get into the habit of smoking. There has been tremendous increase in the number of smokers in India. Every  year almost 9,00,000 people die due to diseases arising out of addiction to smoking and the number is expected to rise to 1 million. By going through the following news report one can realize the seriousness of the issue.

http://environment.about.com/od/healthenvironment/a/smoking_deaths.htm

We know that people choose to smoke to look cool , mature and happening or to use it as a tool to relieve stress .But, the question is does it make sense to get addicted to smoking just for the sake of  looking cool or to relieve stress on the cost of our lives? The answer is certainly no, as its not worth losing life to such useless addiction. If one wants to be addicted then he should try getting addicted to healthy living , to loving themselves which would not only be good for them but also for the human society.

To spread awareness about the hazards of smoking cigarettes various campaigns are organised, institutes have been set up and govt. is also imposing fines on the people for smoking at public places . But, in spite of the steps taken the purpose is not fulfilled yet. There was a recent news regarding an actor been fined for smoking in public, its very much evident that Director Of Health Services fined him to make it clear that health department are taking this issue seriously.
 http://www.ndtv.com/article/cities/ajay-devgn-fined-rs-100-for-smoking-in-public-in-goa-48912

Then again will it make any difference for the actor or any other person?? I certainly don't think that it would do any good as one would pay the fine and go away . Nothing will change until and unless people begin to realize the significance of precious gift given by god called LIFE.

Gorakhpur In The Clutches Of Encephalitis

Encephalitis, a disease about which not many people know has taken roots in Gorakhpur,UP. This disease is caused by bacterial infection and mostly affects children. The situation is becoming worse with every single day passing by, as the infection has claimed 215 lives . Here is a recent news report related to the outbreak.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbk7MNn5GBI&feature=player_embedded#!

Why is it that the children of Gorakhpur are losing their lives to the infection ? Why the govt. has not done anything to control this outbreak? Isn't  it an issue to be taken care of ? People are suffering and witnessing the deaths of their loved one's but are unable to prevent it. Neither, they have adequate funds to get the infection cured  nor do they know the cause of infection.

Gorakhpur must get rid of it for the sake of humanity ,and, it will only be possible with the serious efforts of govt. It should provide proper medical facilities for the infected children and organize campaigns for spreading awareness about the disease.

Hoping, the situation in Gorakhpur will improve soon and  adequate measures will be taken to avoid such an outbreak...

Obesity

Obesity is a very common health issue which is prevalent for years in our society . Despite of knowing and practicing  the measures to prevent it, the number of obese people is increasing day by day.

I agree that people have realized its ill - effects and are working upon it but still , it remains a major cause of concern as now its the children aged between 5-14 yrs who are affected the most .

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/health-fitness/health/Obesity-setting-in-before-adolescence/articleshow/6431361.cms

After reading the above article , you can imagine how this issue is becoming worse and affecting the young generation. Why is it that obesity is becoming a common problem among kids? Why are they so inactive and lack stamina at such an early age ? The answer to these questions lies in  the lifestyles they are following nowadays...

Children are much more into eating junk food like pizza, burger, noodles, etc instead of eating home - made food and is spending more time on indoor activities such as playing online games , watching television, etc, rather than doing physical activities like playing outdoor games, exercising, etc. I won't say that children are to be blamed alone as firstly its the responsibility of the parents to inculcate good food habits in their kids and to make them understand the importance of balanced diet. But, because of the prevalent busy lifestyles parents fail to do so the outcome of which is increasing no. of obese kids in society.

Still, there are certain things which can be done to fight obesity and improve the condition of our young generation . Like, the education system must come forward and encourage kids to participate in sports and promote outdoor activities . Parents should take some time out from their busy schedules and get involved in outdoor activities with their kids. And societies should ensure allotment of a playground for children so that they don't have to look around for space to play.

I think if such simple things are taken into consideration and are done properly then, hopefully obesity won't remain an issue among children any longer ...

Introduction

Hiiii...
I am Neha and this is my blog regarding the health issues. Health is a resource for every human being as, it helps in obtaining objectives of life . Without good health the aim of one's life cannot be achieved. So, we all care about it, after all we need to be physically and mentally fit to perform our jobs or duties on daily basis. But, do we actually understand the importance of good health? Everyone might say yes.. but i don't agree. If we do realize its importance and are seriously concerned about it then, why is it that with every passing year more diseases are coming up and above it, we are becoming more prone to diseases which are already prevalent. My basic idea behind writing this blog is to bring into the notice that how with the changing lifestyle we are giving less importance to health and what can be done to maintain a good health .

I won't say that i know what all can be done but its just a small step towards bringing a change and making a better understanding of the importance of 'health'. For doing so, i will need your assistance so feel free to comment and give suggestions.
