Ayurvedic Pharmacy Becoming A Threat For Medicinal Plants

With the changing times, people are becoming conscious about their health. They are now prefering to use ayurvedic medicine rather than antibiotic and homoepathic medicines.Ayurveda is a science which is in practice since ancient times.People have realized the importance of Ayurveda and it is again  becoming popular in India as well in foreign countries.

This change is very beneficial for promoting healthy living but practicing ayurveda on the stake of medicinal plants is not acceptable. We are using the plants so rationally that they are on the verge of extinction , they are used and harvested in an inadequate proportion. there was a recent article which states that wild medicinal plants are on the verge of extinction because of inadequate usage of plants for the purpose of making medicines.  http://www.developmentchannel.org/health/medicinal-plants/1065-93-pc-of-wild-medicinal-plants-on-the-verge-of-extinction

Is it appropriate to deteriorate one resource (plants) for the sake of becoming healthy? Is it justified for us to use plants so rationally? I would firmly say 'NO',these plants must be utilized and harvested in a sustainable proportion . We should not just harvest them and employ them for making ayurvedic medicines but should also take care of these plants and find ways to end their extinction.

Smoking: An Addiction Leading To Death

" Smoking Cigarette Is Injurious To Health ", this is a fact which most of the people know and despite knowing they get into the habit of smoking. There has been tremendous increase in the number of smokers in India. Every  year almost 9,00,000 people die due to diseases arising out of addiction to smoking and the number is expected to rise to 1 million. By going through the following news report one can realize the seriousness of the issue.

We know that people choose to smoke to look cool , mature and happening or to use it as a tool to relieve stress .But, the question is does it make sense to get addicted to smoking just for the sake of  looking cool or to relieve stress on the cost of our lives? The answer is certainly no, as its not worth losing life to such useless addiction. If one wants to be addicted then he should try getting addicted to healthy living , to loving themselves which would not only be good for them but also for the human society.

To spread awareness about the hazards of smoking cigarettes various campaigns are organised, institutes have been set up and govt. is also imposing fines on the people for smoking at public places . But, in spite of the steps taken the purpose is not fulfilled yet. There was a recent news regarding an actor been fined for smoking in public, its very much evident that Director Of Health Services fined him to make it clear that health department are taking this issue seriously.

Then again will it make any difference for the actor or any other person?? I certainly don't think that it would do any good as one would pay the fine and go away . Nothing will change until and unless people begin to realize the significance of precious gift given by god called LIFE.
